Our Library Resources
The Library collection includes an extensive range of print and electronic information resources as well as audio-visual equipment and videos. Library resources include the most recent indexes, newspapers, reference materials and on-line full-text journal databases.

Students can access approximately 7000 websites via the library catalogue.

The library promotes books and reading by providing students with fiction and recreational reading material.

The Library staff are always available to assist and advise students with their reading and research needs.

Computing Services

The library provides students with computer access to the school network. Computers are available to students for research and word processing. Students may access the internet and print documents from library computers. Internet and print credits can be purchased from the main office.

Instructions for using Library Computers

When you have finished using the computer, to Log Off, click the Start Button and then Click “Logoff”. DO NOT restart the computer or press the Reset Button.

Accessing the Network

Students can access the network from the library as well as from other computer facilities in the school.

Students will be given a network password, which can be changed if they wish. It is advisable that students change their passwords from time to time.

Multimedia Resources

In the Library you have access to clip art, JPEGS, GIFS, AVIs and WAVs (the equivalent of some 30 CDs). To access these for use in PowerPoint, Word or web pages, click on Start – Programs – and follow the links to the Digital Library Browser. This will give you thumbnails of the folders you select to browse. When you have selected an image, double click on the image, copy and paste into your application.

You also may access both Microsoft Encarta and Encyclopaedia Britannica DVD-ROMs via our library servers.

Printers

Both black and white and colour printing facilities are available from the library. Students are required to purchase print credits (generally $5.00 minimum) from the main office to print from networked printers. Receipts should be taken to the computer technicians in the brick building to have the credits applied to your balance.

Scanners

Two scanners are available for student use in the library. Please ask library staff for assistance.

CD-ROM Burners

Two CD-ROM burners are available for student use in the library. Please ask library staff for assistance. CD-ROM burners are NOT permitted to be used to illegally copy game or other commercial software.


Internet Services

Students can access the Internet from the library as well as from other computer facilities in the school.

Students can choose their Internet password, which can be changed if they wish. Students are required to purchase Internet credits from the main office and then take heir receipt to the library. Library staff will add the new amount to the student’s account balance.

For security purposes, it is advisable that students:

 Change their passwords from time to time.

 DO NOT share their password with friends.

 DO NOT choose obvious passwords such as nicknames and pet’s names.

 Respect the Internet Acceptable Usage Policy.

Photocopying Services

A card operated photocopier is available for student use. Photocopier cards valued at $2 or $5 can be purchased from the library. Photocopying is available in black and white or colour.
